In this activity, students will learn and practise:

  1. how to refer to websites in text and how to add them to your reference list;
  2. how to refer to ChatGPT, and how to add it to your reference list;
  3. how to refer to a video clip on YouTube and how to add it to your reference list;
  4. the difference between paraphrasing and quoting.

This simple, yet engaging, puzzle activity will guide students through the OWL Purdue APA website and help them find the right ways to reference websites, video clips on YouTube, articles, and ChatGPT.

ChatGPT was included since many students might refer to AI for summaries and information, yet they might not be aware that not referencing the use of AI is plagiarism.

This activity takes about 2 hours (2 x 45 minutes), depending on the amount of teacher guidance required. It also works great as homework.

The links in the PDF and Word files are dynamic, so they immediately take the students to the right locations.
